MuzgAudio Reference Audio DAC-01S

The digital-to-analog converter used in the device operates in asynchronous mode, meaning that clock signals coming into the device along with the signal from the source are completely ignored and replaced by its own, pure clock sources. The device uses up to 3 precise clock generators, including two with a tolerance of 1ppm. This means that the device is maximally “insensitive” to incoming signal jitter, less sensitive to source quality, extracting maximum information from each of them. Each of the generators has its own power supply based on discrete shunt regulators.

Reference Audio DAC-01S has 4 digital inputs including: 2 coaxial S/PDIF inputs, one optical Toslink input, and an asynchronous S/PDIF input. Each input is independent and galvanically isolated from each other, thus preventing the creation of ground loops. Input selection is done using a knob or a remote control.

The device features a fully balanced analog signal path built on very fast and low-noise operational amplifiers. The signal passes through only two amplifiers – both for XLR and RCA outputs. Compared to devices available on the market, this is a very short path, yet puristic. This allows for signal processing in the analog domain in the most puristic way. The analog bandwidth of the path reaches many megahertz, thus we receive ultra-low distortions for higher frequencies. The bandwidth is limited only by a gentle, passive 1st-order filter.

A clear user interface is based on a large, 4.3″ color IPS screen. It features high contrast, making the use of the device comfortable from a listening position, with large and clear displayed information.

An ergonomic remote control allows controlling all functions of the device without the need to look at it. The easily palpable crosswheel makes selecting the right buttons intuitive and instant. The remote comfortably fits in the hand, and its high-quality plastic makes it pleasant to touch.

The device can also be controlled using a large, heavy knob.

The device is characterized by high sound quality.
