Studio16Hz introduces the Ethos Ultimo, not just any ordinary speaker, but the culmination of years of dedicated research and development. Meticulously crafted, this speaker started as a prototype and was refined over more than a year until Studio16Hz felt it was perfect to unveil. Every aspect of this project has been fine-tuned to perfection—from the painstaking selection of speakers, the optimal crossover designs, to the high-quality Dutch cabling, and a unique enclosure made from a rigid composite of MDF, further reinforced with solid rings. The damping is handled by a novel design within the box itself, featuring a series of cuts filled with a resonance-damping substance similar to that found in the ScanSpeak Revelator series’ rigid, perforated membrane with cellulose voids filled for damping. This meticulous construction delivers superb enclosure integrity and, consequently, outstanding bass quality. Additionally, the bass section is lined with 6 mm of damping mats, while a highly dense, high-foam material with a density of 1200 N serves as the lossy element. The midrange speaker also operates under ideal damping conditions, dispersing to the back of the membrane, with a high-density bituminous mat and foam material of 850N density enhancing the overall sound dispersion and clarity.
